We’re excited to announce our winter 2016 “All-Natural” beverage promotion — the All-Natural Mocha. Over the past year we have set in motion a plan to evaluate and up-level our beverage offerings. The Mocha has been on this list of beverages that no longer reflect our values at Groundwork, or the direction in which the brand is growing. That’s why we’ve worked directly with our executive chef, John Lobb, to develop a house-made chocolate sauce recipe that meets our requirements:
Authentic and Natural:
It’s important to us that our Mocha be made with 100% natural and authentic ingredients. Our new chocolate sauce is made with only 5 ingredients!
Ingredients: Filtered water, sugar, vegan butter, cocoa powder, semi-sweet chocolate
Our chocolate sauce is non-dairy, which means that for the first time we are able to make a truly vegan mocha!
Since we’re making this chocolate sauce at our Venice commissary, we’re greatly reducing the Mocha’s carbon footprint. It is important to Groundwork that we take into account the amount of energy it takes to move and store boxes of plastic bottles, pump, etc. We will be eliminating hundreds of pounds of plastic and cardboard waste, and this is something we should be proud of.
Easy to Use & Better Performing:
We didn’t want to just replace our current chocolate sauce, but to improve upon its flavor profile and in-beverage performance. Our new recipe incorporates several different chocolates for a flavor that’s well-rounded, rich, and complementary to our espresso. It’s also formulated to mix more easily when combined with espresso. One thing we know — you won’t miss is the old pump!
