A Cozy Cactus for a Cause

This year, we're celebrating holiday giving all season long by partnering with Los Angeles' Downtown Women's Center (DWC). Founded in 1978, DWC was the first permanent supportive housing provider for women in the US. Today, it is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women. Located on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, DWC offers women free housing, meals and recovery programs for as long as they are in need.
Our partnership with DWC started in 2010 when we joined forces to help them design a coffee bar within their gift shop, which was subsequently staffed by Groundwork-trained DWC residents. As the organization grew, Groundwork partnered with corporate sponsors to hire, train, and employ two of the first women who seemed ready for the job outplacement program. Both became key producers in our canned coffee program, which has since exploded with growth. To this day, we are proud to continue working as a sponsor and employer with the Center.
This year, we're continuing the partnership with our limited edition holiday "Cozy Cactus" mug. A classic diner mug celebrating the winter season in SoCal (who needs snowmen, anyway?). All profits from the mug will be donated to the Center to support their amazing work for women in need. Did we mention it's also adorable?
