Are you ready for November 3rd?
Today, September 22nd, is National Voter Registration Day. That means we are exactly 6 weeks out from one of the most important elections of our lifetime. Are you ready?
Your vote is too important to waste. So make sure you are registered, make sure your friends and family are registered, make a plan for how you will ensure your ballot is received.
Here are a few steps you can take right now:
Register To Vote. Deadlines to register vary by state (California is October 19th). You can register in the time it takes to heat the water for your morning cup.
Check Your Registration Status. Confirm your address, preferred language, and vote by mail status, if applicable.
Sign up for ballot tracking. For California voters, Ballottrax allows you to know when your ballot has been mailed, received and counted so you can rest easy. For voters in other states, you can track your ballot through your Secretary of State website
Become a poll worker. The US needs 250,000 new poll workers this year. Without enough poll workers, voting locations close and people lose their opportunity to vote. In most states it even pays!
Fight voter suppression. All around the country people are being robbed of their right to vote through closed polling locations, ID laws, wealth-based barriers and purged voter rolls. Learn more about what the ACLU is doing to fight back and how you can help.
