NEW Malawi Fairtrade Mzuzu Certified Organic Coffee

Mzuzu is the capital of the northern region of Malawi. Surrounded by mountains and forests, grasslands as well as hilly terrain, Mzuzu is known for its coffee, fruit and honey production - and now for a brand new Groundwork Coffee.
We worked with Mzuzu Union's 3000 member farmer co-op in northern Malawi to bring you our newest blend: Malawi Mzuzu. The group has been Fair Trade certified since 2009, and with the help of donors, planted over 1 million organic coffee trees in 2012. Their aim is to improve the quality of life of their farmers through adequate accommodations, food security, warmth, and education. Through the formation of the MZUZU Coffee Planters Cooperative Union, thousands of members have been able to organize and achieve a higher price for their specialty coffee, as well as work together to strengthen their coffee communities.
We roasted this coffee darker than we normally would for a Special Reserve to highlight the interplay between its malted, peaty body and its fruity, spiced acidity. The resulting cup is full-bodied and syrupy with bright, spicy notes and a sweet, citrusy aroma. We recommend brewing this coffee as a pourover, espresso, or cold brew.
