We couldn't be more proud to announce the third installment of our Limited Reserve Program, "Organic Peru Jose Herrera," featuring the incredible coffee of the aforementioned Jose and custom art from Danielle Deley.
As a Spring offering, it was crucial to us to find both art and coffee that was complex, bright, and beautiful. In other words, We wanted this launch to exemplify everything we love about the season: big, bold colors and elevated fun flavors.
Jose's Washed Yellow Caturra lot featuring complex and composed notes of Red Grape, Jasmine, and Almonds was a perfect springtime pairing, accompanied by Danielle's sophisticated and bold yet verdant art.
About Jose Herrera
Jose Herrera’s 2.75-hectare farm, El Cipres is located in the Huabal region of Cajamarca. The farm is close to the famous Chorro Blanco waterfall. It is the last coffee-farming plot before the village of Agua Colorada gives way to the incredibly lush and fertile surrounding forests. Jose is an up-and-coming producer who is meticulous when it comes to harvesting and processing, as made evident by the incredibly clean and sweet coffee he produces.
His coffees are painstakingly picked by hand and mechanically depulped, then fermented for 22–25 hours before being washed and dried slowly under shade cover for an average of 30 days. Coffees like this are why Peru continues to be one of our favorite coffee-growing regions.
